About Rabab

WELCOME

Acupuncture is an ancient healing art that aims to empower anyone to fulfill their utmost potential.

My journey toward the skill began when I was a child looking for ways to connect with people. I focused on the heart in my studies and became a registered medical diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. I gained tremendous experience working with cardiac patients in Maryland. I was the human catalyst between the high technology equipment, the cold and sometimes harsh hospital environments and my cardiac patients.

I eventually injured my neck, shoulder and wrists from the repetitive work and developed carpal tunnel syndrome. Doctors here in Maryland advised me to have surgery on my wrists, at the same time that they told me I would have to live with neck pain for the rest of my life. By then the pain was already keeping me up at night.

A friend suggested I try acupuncture, and I did perhaps on a whim. My acupuncturist told me: My pain is my teacher, and my body is wise. If I listen to its wisdom, I may learn what it is trying to tell me. He spent a good amount of time listening to me and asking me questions that I didn't think were related to the pain. By the time my session was over, I felt like I was being given a second chance.

I ended up not needing any surgery at all, while my pain somehow seemed to ease itself away. I never felt so healthy, and I soon enrolled to begin acupuncture studies.

Today I am certified and licensed in general acupuncture, acupuncture detoxification, facial rejuvenation acupuncture and zero balancing. General acupuncture is an ancient Chinese art and holistic approach to healing. Acupuncture detoxification gently treats various diseases of addiction. Facial rejuvenation literally erases the lines in one's face, at the same time that it enhances the body, mind and spirit. Zero balancing is gentler than chiropractics as it moves one into balance.

As an acupuncturist and Zero Balancer, my goal is to empower my patients to fulfill their utmost potential in life. The choice of acupuncture points and other treatments awakens patients to their own healing potential. Finding the point with the clearest resonance in any one moment is how I remind the body that it has the capacity to heal itself. By providing a tranquil space and non-judgmental listening, I support my patients in finding the tools to make often huge, positive changes in their own lives.

My education includes a Master's Degree in Acupuncture from the Tai-Sophia Institute www.tai.edu  in Laurel, Maryland;a Certification as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association www.acudetox.com; a Diploma in Acupuncture through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine www.nccaom.org  (NCCAOM).

I also serve as faculty at Tai Sophia Institute.

I am also a Certified Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncturist, after studying with the renowned expert Virginia Doran.

I am also a Certified Zero Balancer, after studying with the skillful practitioner Dr. Fritz Smith www.zerobalancing.com .

Although only partially relevant to my current work, I hold a BA in English literature from Mustansiriyah University in Baghdad, Iraq, where I also worked for years as a bi-lingual interpreter.

After immigrating to the United States, I studied Cardiac Sonography at the Johns Hopkins Bay View Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. I became  a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer www.ardms.com . I also taught an Independent Study class in Echocardiography at the Ultrasound School of the Johns Hop kins Sc hool of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
